Safety Mike Mitchell and wide receiver Louis Murphy had an altercation during practice today. Following the session, both men agreed that it was behind them and, in fact they are still, close friends.

Murphy was blocking mitchell on a play, and the two players got into it. At one point, Murphy hauled off and whacked Mitchell after Mitchell had taken his helmet off.

Coach Tom Cable played down the incident, saying, "Them having little quarrels is good, remember that. This is football and they’re men. If you have a brother you know that it’s OK to settle some things once in a while."

Louis Murphy said that they were firends who just had a spirited moment during the heat of battle. "We just got into a heated moment. Mitch is the kind of player that you run that play, you’re blocking, but me and Mitch we’re good friends. We quarrel just like close friends. We get into it on the field but after that, it’s the end of it.”

Mike Mitchell echoed Murphy's sentiments in a more loquacious manner."Mitchell: Louis is one of my best friends, actually, in life. We bonded over the summer and he’s definitely one of my guys. It was hot out there today. I don’t know, things happen, but we talked about it afterward. He’s going through some stuff right now so it’s all good."

Mitchell had joked earlier in camp that he wanted to "get Murphy good" becuase the Florida State product had talked smake about Mitchell's native Ohio. However, he "didn’t want to get him like that. I wanted to get him in the field."

Camp Cable has been a spirited affair, which bodes well for the coming season.
