"Oakland Raiders OLT Khalif Barnes was injured during Tuesday morning's training camp practice. Barnes, who signed a one-year, $1.2 million deal with Oakland in March, suffered a hairline fracture to his left ankle, a league source told Scout.com.

Barnes is expected to miss four to six weeks, which puts him out until at least the beginning of the regular season. Third-year OT Mario Henderson is expected to fill in at left tackle."

The Oakland Raiders now have eight days invested in Camp Cable, with three of them now actually containing contact. It was an up and down day for top pick Darrius Heyward-Bey. He had a rough morning session, but bounced back and had his best session in the afternoon. Charlie Frye has been impressive, but he won't be beating out JaMarcus Russell. The clock is ticking towards their first preseason game where it will be seen how close the Raiders are to being ready for prime time.

* Nnamdi Asomugha left the field for a bit today to get stretched out. He described it as "nothing," and informed the local beat writers that "nothing gets by you all."

* Jeff Garcia missed his second day with a sore calf. He expects to be back by Thursday.

* Ricky Brown has been getting reps with the first team at middle linebacker. Tom Cable reiterated that it is open competition accross the board.

* Undrafted free agent Nick Miller has become something of a camp sensation, catching everything in thrown in his zip code, despite being undersized. Having too many good players at a position is a good problem to have. However, he seems destined for a practice squad with Johnnie Lee Higgins, Chaz Schilens, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Louis Muprhy, and Javon Walker all ahead of him.

* Javon Walker has continued to look impressive in his rehab workouts.

* After struggling in the morning, Heyward-Bey turned in his best perfomance yet in the afternoon, going 14 of 16 with one of the misses woefully underthrown, and the other nearly picked by Chris Johnson.

* Chaz Schilens has still been lights out. He and Johnnie Lee Higgins are both have a very good camp.

* Darren McFadden is looking like he is ready to be the playmaker the Raiders were hoping for when they drafted him last year.
