The morning practice of day 14 of Camp Cable was fairly uneventful. However, Russell did have a streak where he looked really bad. The defense kept working on bringing the blitz. The Raiders are t-minus two days until they get to face off against the Dallas Cowboys.

One of the biggest criticisms of former defensive coordinator was that he didn't call enough blitzes to bring pressure. Linebacker Thomas Howard said that would not be the case under John Marshall in 2009. "That's a good one man. John (Marshall) called up a good one. We are learning how to disguise it. We are not know for bringing as much pressure so I thing I have learned is to show our regular (inaudible) don't be telling everybody... (laughter)... I didn't really see it coming I had a good one come off the back side, it would have been a big hit."

Ryan would blitz in camp, but when it came time for the game they never seemed to materialize. Howard says that won't be the case this time, "John has not been shy about calling them and I kind of know when he is going to call them now. He calls them in good situations and he brings them calls different ones. He did this in Seattle so I am excited about this."

With his speed, Howard is looking forward to getting the opportunity to shoot into the backfield and run down a quarterback or two. " I am not even worried about the past any more. I am worried about now and John likes to call pressures. We have so many from out base, our 45 packages , nickel packages we have a lot of pressures in, from both sides, DB's, safeties, linebackers, got the D-line, got so much in right now. I am just so excited about it, and he is calling it. The biggest difference is we are calling the plays now."

JaMarcus's off day:

JaMarcus Russell reached a point where Russell's accuracy evaporated. Coach Cable said it was a matter of timing, and would be fixed by continued repetitions. "You saw that stretch where it’s like 100 mph fastballs everywhere. Just be on time, not trying to throw it hard. Be on time when you let it go.” Cable continued, "He just needs to speed up, just speed up, just speed up. You keep reminding him of that. You don’t have to make up with the big arm, just make it up with your timing.”
